For most of my life, I thought diamonds were something someone else gave you.

Your first real diamond would come from your dad, then someday from your fiancé. A husband. Maybe one day, if you were lucky, he would love you enough to put one around your neck.

And then one day in my early 30s, living alone in NYC, single and with little to no
real prospects in my online dating journey, I realized how silly my  thoughts were on diamonds.

I had worked hard for the life I had. I had survived heartbreaks, rebuilt myself
after things didn't work out, celebrated wins nobody saw, walked away from
people I loved, started over more times than I could count, and learned how to
become the person I once needed.
